Day 70 – 11th March: St Helier (6th Century)

St Helier is the first Saint of Jersey who was a hermit from Belgium. He lived in a cave above the town which is now known as St Helier. He was killed by robbers, whilst trying to preach the Gospel. His feast day is the 16th July.

Prayer: St Helier

Dear Lord, as we reflect on

St Helier, we pray for the people and Church in Jersey and the Channel Islands,

and we give thanks for St Helier’s mission of evangelisation.

We look upon his bravery shown,

when he was killed for being

your servant and staying true to the Faith.

We thank all those who protect our faith,

even at the time of persecution.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen

St Helier. Pray for us
