Jude was one of Jesus’ apostles and his real name was probably Judas, but to distinguish him from Judas Iscariot, his name was altered to Jude in early bible translations. He is also known as Jude Thaddeus. Along with Saint Bartholomew, Saint Jude Thaddeus are the patron saints of the Armenian Apostolic Church as it is believed that they were the first to bring Christianity to Armenia.
In the Catholic church, St Jude Thaddeus is known as the patron saint of desperate causes. People would take pilgrimage to his grave and some had witnessed powerful intercessions, so he started interceding in the most difficult and lost causes.
Prayer: St Jude Thaddeus.
St Jude Thaddeus,
you who knew Jesus first-hand
and spent your whole life travelling
and spreading the good news,
help us to live truly Christian Life
as we navigate the modern world
and at times may feel like a lost cause.
Through Jesus Christ Our Lord,
Amen
St Jude Thaddeus. Pray for us.
